VICTOR Anichebe transformed Everton's UEFA clash against Nuremberg - terrorising the German defence with a combination of pace and power.
Within minutes of replacing Yakubu (who showed a bit more effort but little end product), Anichebe ripped through the defence to win a penalty before battling like Alan Shearer to swat a defender and score from a tight angle.
He's a local lad (Liverpool not Nuremberg, that is) who has bustled his way through the ranks at Goodison Park. His brute force and improved finishing deserves better than a 'super sub' tag.
After a bit of pre-season panic about his strikeforce, Blues boss David Moyes is spolit for choice - Anichebe, Andy Johnson, Yakubu, James Vaughan and James McFadden.
The Yak and AJ cost £20m between them, but by the end of the season Moyes may well see 'freebies' Vaughan and Anichebe as his first choice strikers.
