FOR those Everton fans who enjoy omens, here's a statistic to warm their hearts.
The media love trivial stats. Of course they mean absolutely nothing but they are a bit of fun.
The 7-1 thumping of Sunderland had me scurrying for the record books out of curiosity.
A bit of internet research revealed that the Blues have won 7-1 in the league on nine occasions (the last time being on November 16, 1996 against Southampton), including no less than three times against Sunderland.
Five of those victories were in the month of November, but that's going off on a trivial tangent.
Here's what Everton fans want to hear. The last time they beat Sunderland 7-1 (also at Goodison Park) was in 1914 when the Blues went on to the win the league.
(Can anyone beat that for total trivia?)

They had a famous FA Cup run in the early 1990s, eventually being knocked out by Crewe 3-1 in the 3rd round. Roly Howard was manager for a record 33 years (1972-2005), although he will always be remembered by some fans as Kenny Dalglish's window cleaner. TV presenter Ray Stubbs once asked: "How's business, Roly?" to which Roly replied "Oh you know - ups and downs."

Former players include Michael Ball (Everton and Rangers) and Stephen Wright (Liverpool and Sunderland). The club motto is 'To Enjoy, Not Destroy.'
