ON a schoolday Jack could sleep till midday. On a Sunday his sixth sense boots him from his bunk bed at 7.39am.
Why? Because of his beloved Match of the Day. It's one of the highlights of his week.

He'll tiptoe downstairs (after wrestling with Paddy's child gate waking the whole street), switch on the telly, plump up the bean bag, plonk it 30 to 40 centimetres from the screen and snuggle up under his Liverpool FC blanket as the DVD clock clicks to 7.40.
When bleary-eyed Dad makes an appearance, Jack will tackle me with bits of comment and analysis.
"Nasty injury to Heskey, hey dad? Kalou can count himself unlucky. What about Vidic? City look useful this year. Hasn't Sam Allardyce got a fat head. Why didn't Rafa bring on Torres earlier? "
He also loves seeing the Goal of The Month competition and shouting 'Spanker!!!!' when a player scores from outside the penalty box.
Thankfully, Jack's yet to realise that the Sunday morning MOTD is a repeat of the Saturday night show, otherwise he'd never get to bed.

They had a famous FA Cup run in the early 1990s, eventually being knocked out by Crewe 3-1 in the 3rd round. Roly Howard was manager for a record 33 years (1972-2005), although he will always be remembered by some fans as Kenny Dalglish's window cleaner. TV presenter Ray Stubbs once asked: "How's business, Roly?" to which Roly replied "Oh you know - ups and downs."

Former players include Michael Ball (Everton and Rangers) and Stephen Wright (Liverpool and Sunderland). The club motto is 'To Enjoy, Not Destroy.'

Hello Peter,
Just wanted to congratulate you on your wonderful blog.
There are all kinds of bloggers out there who spout off like they are the font of all knowledge (naming no names) but you don't fall into that trap.
Yours is the one I turn to first every morning. I only ever look at Greg O'Keeffe's when I'm feeling a bit low. That particular blog is far more effective than any mind bending substances I know of!
Anyway, keep up the good work.
Tony
