JACK'S eyes nearly popped out of his head and his gummy grin was ear-to-ear as I showed him the Premier League table on the BBC Sport website.
Although he was irritated that I had interupted his Saturday teatime sword fight with fellow topless pirate Paddy, he peered over my shoulder.
'What??!!' he exclaimed in astonishment, turning on his heels and dashing to tell The Gaffer in the kitchen.
It was only the second time in his short lifetime that the Reds had topped the league and, I reckon, the first time his beloved Merseyside clubs were cosying up to each other in first and second place.
Mind you, it was only the second time this week The Gaffer had set foot in the kitchen.

They had a famous FA Cup run in the early 1990s, eventually being knocked out by Crewe 3-1 in the 3rd round. Roly Howard was manager for a record 33 years (1972-2005), although he will always be remembered by some fans as Kenny Dalglish's window cleaner. TV presenter Ray Stubbs once asked: "How's business, Roly?" to which Roly replied "Oh you know - ups and downs."
