KIDS ask too many questions - usually at the wrong times.
The school run is anxious enough without a breathless, monotone commentary from the back seat (although I always enjoy Little Emily barking at road hogs 'If you can't drive it, park it!')
Picking our way through the snow the other morning, Jack went into hyperdrive with his questions.

"Dad, could you play football in the snow? What if the ball became a giant snowball?
"What colour would you have to paint the white lines? Would David Beckham (Real Madrid) have to play in red?"
The quizzing continued as we clambered out of the car and I struggled to keep Little Miss Muffet's bonnet on in the wind (it was Nursery Rhyme Dressing Up Day for Emily).
"Oh here comes Yankee Doodle Dandy," I said, unsuccessfully trying to change the subject.
"Yeh, but dad. You couldn't dribble and if you did a sliding tackle you might end up in the car park as well as getting stingy knees."

They had a famous FA Cup run in the early 1990s, eventually being knocked out by Crewe 3-1 in the 3rd round. Roly Howard was manager for a record 33 years (1972-2005), although he will always be remembered by some fans as Kenny Dalglish's window cleaner. TV presenter Ray Stubbs once asked: "How's business, Roly?" to which Roly replied "Oh you know - ups and downs."

Former players include Michael Ball (Everton and Rangers) and Stephen Wright (Liverpool and Sunderland). The club motto is 'To Enjoy, Not Destroy.'
