I NEVER thought I’d be so pleased to see Ray Parlour.
For three years I’ve found it hard to forgive him for cheating his way to a free kick in front of the Kop. Arsenal scored and went on to win the game. ‘Let it go. These things can eat you up,’ I tell myself.

Frizzy-headed Parlour (I said, let it go) and Pedro Mendes (Portsmouth) were the last two cards needed by Jack to complete his Shootout Premier League collection.
The cards are the reason why we ate pigeon for Christmas dinner and why we’re not going on holiday this summer. Or next.
Twenty teams, each with 18 cards. What’s that? 360 cards. Each packet costs 35 pence for five cards, four of which are guaranteed swaps.
Let’s call it twenty grand’s worth of laminated cardboard we’ve bought in the last few months.
But, now the task is over - thanks to Charlie down the road for selflessly handing over the elusive pair in return for Jack’s mountain of swaps.
The bank account may get a chance to lick its wounds before the next lot of footy cards or stickers hit the market.

They had a famous FA Cup run in the early 1990s, eventually being knocked out by Crewe 3-1 in the 3rd round. Roly Howard was manager for a record 33 years (1972-2005), although he will always be remembered by some fans as Kenny Dalglish's window cleaner. TV presenter Ray Stubbs once asked: "How's business, Roly?" to which Roly replied "Oh you know - ups and downs."

Former players include Michael Ball (Everton and Rangers) and Stephen Wright (Liverpool and Sunderland). The club motto is 'To Enjoy, Not Destroy.'
